A
sacrament is an outward sign or symbol instituted by Christ as a means of giving grace’ (Catechism
of the Catholic Church, no.772). The Sacraments give purpose and power
to the
Paschal Mystery of Jesus and to God’s promises and grace within us for the sake
of salvation and
the birth and nourishment of Christian life in faith. The Sacrament of Penance is the sacrament instituted by Christ in which Christians
receive forgiveness
from God for the sins in which
they have committed after Baptism through the process of repenting,
confessing and celebrating.
This teacher resource package aims to assist teachers in acknowledging the importance of educating Year 5 students on the Sacrament of Penance. It lists a number of educationally-rich resources which can be implemented in classrooms about the Sacrament of Penance. |
